29th June: Bats, friends upside down

29th June: Bats, friends upside down

Bats are the only mammals capable of active flight adapted to nightlife. In the past they have experienced a ruthless, cruel and unmotivated persecution, but today fortunately they receive greater respect from man.

On summer nights they carry out a silent and tireless work of biological control of insect populations. We know their important ecological role and we learn to listen to them with the bat-detector.

The meeting is at 8 pm at the Carsiana Botanical Garden. An introductory part on their biology and the actions we can take to help and protect them will be followed by a census of the species present with the use of the bat-detector. The invitation is for adults and children. To refresh the evening the garden staff will offer fresh slices of watermelon and melon to everyone!

Participation in the event and fruit tasting are free.
