September 28: illustrating Carsiana with Elena Perco

September 28: illustrating Carsiana with Elena Perco

Description of the morning
The first part of the morning will begin with a guided tour of the garden, during which a guide will accompany us on a journey of discovery through the history and typical environments of the Karst.

It will be an opportunity to observe the local flora and fauna up close and learn about the unique features of this extraordinary landscape. At this stage, we will be invited to observe and listen carefully, and then choose the subjects we wish to represent in our small fold-out booklet. The first drawing exercises will be led by illustrator Elena Perco and will aim to train our observation and synthesis skills. In particular, we will focus on learning how to make quick sketches, a fundamental exercise for quickly expressing our impressions. Other exercises, on the other hand, will focus on training clarity and precision in drawing. Finally, we will explore some examples of fold-out booklets and understand how to design and create our own quickly and creatively. The booklets will be created using the sketching technique. Sketching is a form of art often practised outdoors that focuses on creating sketches or drafts, usually quick and spontaneous, that capture an idea or scene immediately. It can be done with different tools. These sketches, although simple and not always finished, can have a strong visual impact and are an important part of the process. No particular requirements are needed, other than an exploratory approach to the visible and invisible.
