The Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia is pleased to inaugurate the first edition of "The choice of our plant", a cycle of training events directed by the technicians of the forest nurseries of Tarcento (UD) and Maniago (PN), and of the Carsiana botanical garden in Sgonico (TS).
Both the nurseries and the botanical garden are owned by the FVG Region.
In the past, trees and shrubs were planted to have mainly firewood. Today we cultivate them even just for the pleasure of seeing a green oasis grow to be preserved, for our well-being and that of our community. For this reason, we often ask ourselves questions that we struggle to answer. Questions such as: is the plant I have chosen suitable for my soil? When should I plant it? At what distance from other plants? How much water, how much fertilizer, how much light does it need? 100 questions plus one: is the plant I chose native and certified?
Why attend meetings
To answer these “100 questions plus one” we can participate in the meetings organized by three regional structures: the Pascolon forest nursery in Maniago, the Pascul forest nursery in Tarcento and the Carsiana botanical garden. During the meetings the criteria for choosing the species and deciding the cultivation interventions to be done will be explained, the technical aspects of planting the plants will be discussed so that the participants can operate with greater chances of success and knowledge of the facts. We will also discuss the value of choosing a native and certified plant: “our” forest plant, because it comes from our land and because it will inhabit our field.
Who is it for?
To all users and visitors of the three regional structures, and to those interested in these topics, although they have not yet had the courage to "put their hands in the earth". The explanations will be accompanied by practical examples to encourage dialogue and participation.

The meeting in Carsiana will be held on Sunday 27 March at 10.00 and will end at 12.30. You can register online on the 'Events' page of the Region by 13.00 on Wednesday 23 March: http://eventi.regione.fvg.it
