This winter we have worked very hard and now we are ready to present you two very special surprises that enrich the already magnificent landscape of Carsiana.
The skilled hands of Vojko Ražem, an expert builder of dry stone walls and "hiške" (erroneously called casite, and we will explain why), who uses the ancient traditional construction techniques without binding materials and respecting the typical forms of the buildings of the Trieste Karst, they gave us two new elements in Carsiana. In fact, at the bottom of the sinkhole there is now a dry stone wall and a "hiška", typical elements of the karst territory which, with their presence, tell of the intimate connection between the landscape and the traditional anthropic use of the territory.
The appointment is divided into two parts. A first excursion to Carsiana will be followed by a longer tour near the town of Banne, where we will be able to observe the original hiške, built when grazing was a very important source of livelihood in this area.
